This coconut and pecan frosting is great on many cakes, not the least of which is German chocolate cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Steps

  1. Gather the ingredients.
  2. Combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened, 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in coconut and pecans.
