Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup uncooked quick-cooking grits
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ground black pepper to taste

Steps

  1. Bring water and salt to a boil in a saucepan. Whisk in grits, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook until thickened, 5 to 6 minutes. Remove from heat.
  2. Stir in Cheddar, Parmesan, and butter until combined and cheeses melt. Season with pepper; serve immediately.
